This mindfulness therapy group for women creates a safe and non-judgmental space where women can talk about their experiences, opinions, emotions and beliefs in the ‘here and now’. The facilitator will guide the group participants to connect with their thoughts, emotions and somatic sensations that is occurring in the present moment. Connecting with each other, in the present moment, while each client is sharing, helps each participant to learn how to regulate, soothe and feel comforted.
Group therapy is can provide benefits that individual therapy cannot but offering participants the opportunity to see themselves through the eyes of other participants.
The role of the therapist as facilitator will guide group clients to differentiate thoughts from feelings as well as processing emotions with a Mindfulness lens. The therapist may sometime share pscycho-educational material related to Attachment Theory to enhance growth opportunities.
To cultivate mindful awareness of the present moment and to ground each session a 5-10 minute guided meditation is a part of every group meeting.
