Medicine for the brain - Brain Bolt Salad Dressing

We love Dr. Leslie Korn! She is thought leader, teacher and practitioner of integrative medicine for mental health and was an important piece of Cyndi’s integrative training.

According to Dr. Korn, “One of the essentials of mental health is to make your own salad dressing. It can be simple or elaborate, but homemade can be medicine for the brain whereas store-bought dressings will never be. Nearly any dressing will do, but this is one of my favorites.”

At Flourish we encourage our people to be mindful of the fats that show up in their food as not all fats are good for your body and brain. For instance, most conventional fats are seed oils and high in Omega 6 fats which can be inflammatory to the brain and body.

The dressing recipe below is an ideal way to incorporate healthy fats into your diet. The dressing is easy to make and delicious! It’s also helpful in eliminating toxic oils like canola, corn, soybeanwhich are found in most store bought dressings.

We’ve also included a version that adds Apple Cider Vinegar to ensure healthy blood glucose control which can improve mood by decreasing anxiety.
