Whole Body Wellness

Why it is important to look at mental health through a holistic, whole-body perspective…

Taking a holistic view of mental health will lead you down the path of total body wellness.  This means viewing your emotional, physical and biological health through a lens that sees the body as one whole person with many complex and inter-related systems. A holistic view, for instance, would see symptoms like feeling hopeless and fatigued as something other than depression that needs an anti-depressant.

Reviewing and assessing symptoms and timelines with a holistic, integrative  or functional medicine professional can help you get to the root cause of what’s happening. This is different than the current conventional medicine perspective that isolates your symptoms and assigns them a specific body part along with a diagnostic label and the aligned pharmaceutical products. This is a ‘band-aid’ approach to help numb the symptoms but true wellness can be elusive.

Flourish believes in honoring the miraculous systems making up our human bodies by viewing mental health symptoms of something more than just a problem with your brain. We encourage our people to care for their overall wellness with basics and, in many cases, self care and lifestyle changes can help decrease mental health symptoms.
